Introduction

Post-tensioned concrete is increasingly becoming the preferred solution for supended floor slabs. The aim of this CPD course is to provide practising engineers with design methodology and tools to produce effective structural solutions in post-tensioned concrete. Design issues will include shear at column heads, long term shortening effect on columns and shear walls, detailing around voids and secondary reinforcement. Participants will have the opportunity to work through an example in the Concrete Society report TR43 and compare the results with commercial software solutions.
