Introduction

This course explains the main features and changes contained in Eurocode 2 and the accompanying National Annex for UK specific conditions. It covers the Eurocode system, basis of design, structural analysis, material properties, design for bending, shear, compression, deflection and crack control. Delegates have the opportunity to design simple structural elements via worked examples and workshops.

Speaker/s

• Professor R S Narayanan, FREng, has been involved with the development of EC2. Professor Narayanan is the Chairman of the CEN subcommittee responsible for Eurocodes on concrete structures.

• Robin Whittle, MA(Cantab), CEng, MICE, has been involved with the development of UK and European Codes for the use of structural concrete. Mr Whittle, an Arup Consultant, is part of the Project Team which drafted EC2.
